Colorado had a couple of softball games this afternoon, so I went downtown and rented a mountain bike for the day. I spent three hours on the mountain, flying down the trails and flying over the handlebars. I was just not comfortable on this bike, and I found myself face down in the dirt more than I would like. Still, it was a great day of riding, and I was tired by the time I rode back into town.
Tonight, we headed to Norwood for the local RODEO! Yee-Haw! Actually, I had never been to a rodeo, but it was kind of fun to watch the different events. The bull riding was of course the main attraction, but I think that the bareback bronco riding was my favorite event of the night. The rodeo almost didn’t even get started, though. During the national anthem, a rider holding the flag starting riding hard around the arena. Well, the horse freaked out and ran right into the fence! The horse was down, the rider was down, the flag was down, but the anthem continued on. Other than gasps from the crowd, the only other thing I heard was “Get the flag up!” Jeesh, how about “Is that guy alright?”
Anyway, the rodeo was fun for me until 9:15, when they ran out of beer! “The rodeo is out of beer” I announced to the group that I was with. We left shortly after.
Well, that’s all to report for tonight. Tomorrow, Colorado brings me back to the trail where I’ll finish up in Durango. This has been a great break from hiking, but I am really looking forward to getting back into the mountains. Oh yea, and Lance Armstrong is the man.
