We stopped there briefly to find out what kind of hiking was available and I was surprised to discover that there are several mountain biking trails in the canyon. We checked out a few of the formations and sights before getting back in the car and resuming our drive back towards Vegas.
Instead of taking the same route back, though the Dixie National Forest, we opted instead to drive through Zion National Park. I had of course been out here last year, but Diane had never seen it, so I figured it would be a good idea to at least swing by so she could get a peek at the park that I explored last year. We rode the shuttle bus through the park, hiked a bit in the Narrows and hiked up to the Emerald Pools. Since we were short on time, that was all we had the time for, so it was back in the car and on the highway to Vegas.
All and all, it was a great weekend. It was nice to have company for once on one of my adventures, Diane got to see a whole new part of the country to her. I picked the perfect place for a short getaway- the views were incredible, the weather was warm and the hiking was mild. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to hike or a better person to accompany me. Life is good.
