Well, due to a bunch of circumstances, I am now sitting in my car in a parking lot on Virginia Route 56, the spot where I left off about a month ago. This weekend I went to my friend John's bachelor party… in Atlantic City. It was quite the party over the course of the two days, I think that I committed five of the seven deadly sins over that time. There was partying, there was gambling, there was smoking, there was staying up until dawn and there was the objectification of women. And of course, there was the consumption of much too much alcohol.

Having put my body through hell, I was anxious to get to the trail and push myself in a more healthier and enjoyable manner. First, though, I stopped by Baltimore and paid a short visit to Drive By. There, I bought my food, planned my route, packed my backpack and watched some wrestling. Drive By gave me some good suggestions for the section that I have left to hike, specifically with some advice about the famous Trifecta in the Shenandoahs, but more on that later.

I left all of my non-essential stuff at Drive By's place since my car would be at the trailhead for about a week. I took my backpacking gear and headed back on the road, a four-hour trip to where I am sitting now. Its raining, of course, I would expect no less from the Appalachian Trail. It is greeting me the same way that it left me just a few weeks ago. Due to the weather, and the late hour, I have decided to sleep in the car. The weatherman just said that the skies will clear for tomorrow. Sure.
