May 23: Route 501, Glasgow, VA

Miles Today : 2.1
Total Miles : 223.3

Well, as you can see, today turned into a virtual zero day for me. I didn't really plan on taking a day off on this trip, but after seven days of walking with wet feet, I needed to dry out and I needed to let me feet do some healing. While some repair work was done last night, they did not look all the great this morning.

I reached Route 501 at 9:30, and Beer Master had to hitch into town to get a mail drop. I figured that I would join him and at least get some food and give my feet a few hours off. Gypsy ended up joining us as well, but that wasn't until after ChickenFest 01. Beer Master and I split a fried chicken dinner for four, which included 16 pieces of chicken, 8 dinner rolls, a tub of cole slaw, and 24 large fried potato wedges.

We did the usual town things, rented a room, did some laundry, checked email, and ate more food. Old Ebb rolled into town as well today, along with Willy C and Reader and Ziti. It rained today, of course, but the real show isn't supposed to happen until tonight, when tornado warnings and hail advisories are supposed to take effect. Should be fun.

The rest of my trip should be pretty mellow, actually. Drive By is picking me up at the Tye River, which is only 46 miles from Route 501. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear, but given the forecasts lately, I'll believe it when I see the blue-sky overhead. We are all getting ready to head to dinner now, time for more food. Actually, Reader turned 21 today so there is going to be a small, surprise birthday party for him at the restaurant, thanks to Ziti.
