Sept 30: Cape Lookoff Mountain

Well, I didn't plan on a 20 miles day out here, but I did it. The hiking was just too easy, seriously. The trail followed a nice, gentle ridge the whole way to VT Route 73. There were some climbs, some ups and downs, but nothing very challenging. Bear and I got into a good hiking grove and before I know it, we had gone 17 miles.

We then crossed the road and ascended steeply to the cliffs of Mt. Horrid, which provided a great view. The campsite where we are now, about a mile north on Cape Lookoff Mt., is even better. With a great view west for the sunset, a warm meal and a trusty companion, nothing could be better.
