Due to popular request (mostly Molly and Michelle think that it will keep my journal entries shorter - HAH!), today’s journal will be written entirely in Iambic Pentameter.
Today we woke up at the outfitter.
The morning air brought a chill to our bones.
We saw that many tents were in the back,
they were mostly hikers that we had met.
There was Eric, Holly and Mudtubby,
they all were shocked to see us on the porch.
We quickly packed and headed for the store;
we did not want to get stuck in this town.
We did not get out as quick as we hoped,
we ran into many of our past friends.
Wil'flower, he was drinking a cup of joe.
Also, An'mal Cracker came walking by.
Surprised he was to see us, say the least.
Our hike, it started around 10 o’clock.
The day was up and up without an end.
We crossed into Vermont just after noon;
it welcomed us with a very steep climb.
My pack’s now heavy with my winter gear;
my legs were hurting from the extra weight.
Today, it was not very eventful.
We hiked without a view for a long time.
The mountains, they were rocky and alpine.
The temps, they stayed under 80 degrees.
The sun stayed out, the rain stayed way away.
At camp, we ate and got up all our stuff.
The food was good, but quickly we were cold.
Up the hills the temps are dropping quick.
I’m now glad that I brought my extra clothes.
There are a lot of section hikers here.
They are all doing parts of the Long Trail.
Tomorrow may be another short day.
There is a sweet shelter not far away.
But if we chose to take a wimpy day,
the next two days our legs will surely pay.
I hope that you enjoyed this special edition of my journal. Tomorrow I will return to normal.
