7/10/99 Clarks Ferry Shelter   Miles Today : 4.7 Miles to Katahdin : 1034.1

Well today turned out nothing like I imagined. First, we ahd planned on getting an early start but these plans were quickly abandoned since DB and Colorado were quite hung over. Also, I was not feeling well and I am now positive that I still have Giardia.

Almost all of today was spent lounging on the porch of the Doyle, reading magazines, talking with other hikers, etc... most of us went back to the Pub to watch the women's world cup finals. What a game! To win it like that in a shootout was amazing. However, this long game meant a very late start on the trail allowing us to make it the 5 miles to the shelter before dark. This place is packed tonight with Angus, Ape, White Gas, Rockfish and Permagrin.

That's all to report for now, I am tired and it is late. Tomorrow we will be trying for a 20+ day, assuming the famed PA rocks are not too bad.
