7/4/99 DB Hiker Hostel   Miles Today : 0 Miles to Katahdin : 1171.4

Today is my last day here at DB's home and I am more than ready to get moving. I am anxious for some heavy mile days and it looks like there will be a lot of them. Today, however, I was happy to be inside in the A/C as the local temps topped 100.

Saw South Park this afternoon and it is not a movie for those easily offended, that is certain! We enjoyed it, and were glad to be out of the heat for a few hours.

Our dinner, compliments of Mr. And Mrs. P, was a feast of crabs. Let me that it ws the most I have ever had to work for a meal! By the 6th crab, I was just getting the hang of it but over an hour had passed and I was tired.

To cap off the weekend, we saw fireworks near Jen's house. To me, this represented how much I have changed this trip. The fireworks were nice, don't get me wrong, but there were hundreds of people crammed together on a crowded office park parking lot watching this display as cars whizzed by on the highway. Most people tonight saw a good display of fireworks, I saw the traffic.

Anyway, tomorrow I hike! Should be another scorcher, but moving on will be nice!
