5/30/99 The Fox Hill Inn   Miles Today : 0 Miles from Springer : 532.8

Woke up at 8:00 for breakfast at the Inn. We were treated to waffles with fresh fruit, very tasty. We killed most of the morning just lounging around and finally headed out sometime after 11:00. Our destination was the New River Campground ( NRC ). The NRC shuttled us 10 miles up the New River and provided us with a canoe. It was a perfect day to be on the water, hot and sunny. Unfortunately, the river was low making navigation on the river quite tricky. For almost two miles we were getting stuck on rocks every other minute. In hind sight, the five mile trip would have been much better, but we had a good time and managed not to kill each other! After the canoe trip, we headed to the nearest movie theatre in Galax where we saw Star Wars. I thing the movie would have been great... if I was 10 year old. Still, it was enjoyable and if Lucas sticks to his mold, the NEXT movie will kick butt. We got back to the Inn late and capped the evening eating subs and watching the Powerpuff Girls. *Duh*
